Why build a log home?

Log homes built by Colorado Log Works Inc. are both environmentally friendly and affordable. Because Colorado Log Works Inc. uses only dead standing western timber usually from Colorado there is little impact on forests. These logs are much drier than logs that come from lower climates where they have high moisture content and therefore will not settle as much. Any settling that naturally occurs can be controlled eliminating problems with framing. And, because Colorado Log Works Inc. pays close attention to the details of your house plans, the logs will match your needs without creating waste.

Not only do log homes have a warm, welcoming feeling, they actually absorb and release heat over the course of a day keeping heating costs low. The air quality within the home is uncontaminated by toxins used in traditional building materials like vinyl, synthetic insulation and chemically treated plaster.

Log homes built by Colorado Log Works Inc. are different from manufactured log packages in two important ways. First, the logs are bigger. The average diameter of logs used by Colorado Log Works Inc. is 14” whereas most manufactured logs average 9” to 10” in diameter. Larger logs allow for more heat to be absorbed and then released when the interior temperature drops. Second, our logs are hand peeled which provide a long lasting rich beauty and adds character to your home.

Logs will make you a house but Colorado Log Works will make you a HOME.
